Okay so the weirdest thing just happened! I recently posted a photo of a girl wearing a really cute t-shirt and i was thinking about shops where i could buy some from, because you know, they're awesome and look good all the time. Anyway, my brother just walked into the room and showed me a t-shirt that he just made for himself. I took a look and was quite surprised at how good the quality of the t-shirt was and how good the print on it looked. He told me that there was basically about 5 steps to making it...
Step 1: Go to Spotlight (if you live in aus) or a shop where they sell pretty basic material and then buy a simple but good piece of material that you could make a t-shirt out of.
Step 2: Find another t-shirt that you may already own, and try and cut the same style as what your already existing t-shirt has. This way, you will have a good cut on your t-shirt and it won't look like it has actually been made.
Step 3: If you own a sewing machine, than this step will be really handy for you. Get your two pieces of t-shirt and then sew them/get them sewed together. If the person knows that they are doing, than this should turn out great.
Step 4: From basically any shop, buy a t-shirt printing kit. It isn't too expensive and it's really simple. The kit should contain paper that will eventually go onto your t-shirt.
Step 5: Find a print on your computer. This can be any print. Something that you have made yourself, a really cool photo of you and your friends, even just a kickass print of a band. Print this out onto the t-shirt printing paper.
Step 6: Once this is done, iron the print that was on your paper, onto your t-shirt. I know iron-on sounds a little dodgy, but if you do it properly with good iron-on paper, this should turn out awesome.
Okay so by now, your t-shirt should be looking good. I know it seems like a massive pain in the ass, and you're thinking - 'Why can't i just go out and buy one and it will probably be the same price and it won't be so much of a headache?'
Seriously, if you do it well, then you're going to have a t-shirt that nobody else has! You get to choose any print that you want to go on there (it can even be something you found off a blog) and then when people ask you where you bought it from you can say that you made it!
*Tips*
- Use a good printer when you are printing out your print. It will make the quality of it look better.
- When your t-shirt is being sewed, make sure it is done by someone who knows what they're doing. You can't have a good looking t-shirt with ugly stitching can you now?
- Last but not least, with the cut of your t-shirt, maybe make the neck line from the front a little bit V-neck. It will look better and you won't have the common t-shirt look.
